1 critical in west Columbus shooting

Columbus police are investigating a shooting that happened in the Hilltop area Saturday night.

According to police, the shooting happened near the intersection of Eakin Road and Wedgewood Drive around 10:45 p.m.


Police say a witness said a car pulled up alongside the Columbus News victim, who was walking home from a convenience store. The witness also stated a suspect got out of the rear passenger side of the vehicle and walked up to the victim with a gun.

The suspect then fired four shots at the victim, who was struck in the back and the elbow. Police say the victim also appears to have been grazed in the head by one of the shots.

According to police, the victim was taken to Grant Press Release Distribution Service In Columbus Medical Center in critical condition and is expected to survive.

There is currently no suspect information.
